Demonstration in Acrylics

Ongar Art Society presents Hashim Akib to demonstrate his dynamic skills in the use of acrylics on Thursday 10th September, 7 for 7.30-9.30 pm, at Stondon Massey Village Hall.
A little about the artist:
Hashim Akib is a professional acrylic artist based in the UK, known for his bold, expressive brushwork and vibrant colour palettes.
For 15 years he worked as an illustrator which provided a solid grounding in drawing and painting before moving into fine art. His painting quickly gained recognition and he was awarded the title of Artist of the Year 2009 by the SAA (Society of All Artists). Hashim’s work can be found in private collections across the UK and overseas.

He has exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, New English Art Club, Society of Wildlife Artists, David Shepherd Artist of the Year and Royal Society of Marine Artists at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. His works feature in the UK’s National Art Collection. Hashim is the author of five acrylic painting books including Vibrant Acrylics, Painting Portraits and Artist Painting Techniques by Dorling Kindersley. He also has a bestselling online art course on Domestika.
Working in acrylic on canvas, Hashim paints treasured locations from observation, often deliberately choosing a quirky and less obvious perspective. His canvases begin as relatively abstract studies of his subject with layers of detail and light eventually resolving into recognisable scenes, each with a very painterly style.
Hashim offers a glimpse into his artistic vision through exhibitions, art demonstrations, and engaging workshops. He also takes on custom commissions to create personalised art pieces that resonate with individual stories.

A ceremony was held at Ongar Academy on 18th April attended by representatives of the Twinning Organisations of Cerizay, France and Ongar, Great Britain, and invited guests. The Chair of Ongar Art Society, Loueen Morrison and Publicity Officer, Susan Keeble were among those with a special invitation.
There was a lovely Afternoon Tea, a concert by the primary schools and a wonderful medley of songs from Chicago, the Musical by Ongar Singers.
The main event followed - the unveiling of a painting, created by Joe Charman, instigated by Loueen Morrison and Hugh Rayner of Ongar Art Society. The representatives from Cerizay were delighted with the presentation of the beautiful work of art.
The painting will be now in residence in Cerizay in France. Ongar Art Society has now attained International connections and we were very proud to have been part of this important ceremony.
