About the tutor 

Tom Voyce is a British painter and art teacher, trained in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University in Wales, 

In 2017 Tom participated on Sky Arts Landscape artist of the year, where his powerful and distinctive landscapes thrilled the judges. He went on to win the competition.

Tom’s subject matter comprises of interiors and semi-abstracted city and landscapes. The strength of his paintings lies not in their faithful depiction of a landscape, but in their suggestion of a sense of place, of being present within a space at a particular moment.      You can see more of Tom’s work via these links:

The workshop 

This exciting one-day acrylic painting workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Explore your creative skills in a supportive, relaxed setting. Focus on capturing the essence of landscapes, cityscapes, interiors, or even still life using acrylic paints through a liberated approach to painting. Learn key composition techniques, including perspective, shape, and light, with personalised feedback and tips on how to explore your processes. Come ready to experiment, learn, and enjoy creating art in an inspiring environment. You will develop compositions from own your own colour photographs (Tom will also provide images).

 

Further information 

The workshop will take place from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch. We ask you to arrive at 9.45 to set out so that we can start promptly at 10am.  

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and available throughout the day but please bring a packed lunch. 

 

The course will cost £35 for members and £40 for non-members. It will be opened up to non-members, if the course isn’t full, 10 days before the workshop.

Ongar Art Society invites members to enter our latest art competition.

The theme will be tools.
2D work no larger than A3 and the base of any 3D work also no larger than A3 please.

​

Any form of tools, include people using tools if you wish, or it can be a display of tools.  

 

Brushes, paints, pallettes, lino cutting tools, gardening tools, hammers and saws, chisels and sculpting tools ...  so much choice -  entries will be judged by secret ballot.
